Why this, why now
Your students are learning to diagnose. Nobody is teaching them how to deliver it.
I have spent years on the other side of the stethoscope — living with a chronic, largely invisible illness (POTS/dysautonomia), moving through waiting rooms, being examined, and being disbelieved. That vantage point is not a soft skill. It is clinical information most training programs never teach: what it costs a patient to be heard, or not.
This is not a bedside-manner seminar with role-play scripts. There is no slide deck. Students work with real scenarios — breaking hard news, sitting in uncertainty, holding a room that does not want to hear what it is being told — and practice it out loud, in front of each other.
What a collaboration can look like
Taster Session
90 min · Free
I come in and run a live, testimony-based exercise with your students — the patient perspective, delivered directly. No slides. No theory first. Just the room doing the work.
Best for: To see whether it lands before committing to anything.
Workshop
Half-day or Full-day
Students practice the skill of delivering hard news, sitting in uncertainty, and hearing what a patient is actually saying underneath the symptoms they report. In pairs and in front of the group.
Best for: Medical, nursing, and allied health cohorts.
Workshop Series
4–6 sessions
Each session builds on the last: listening, presence, breaking bad news, and handling the moment a patient stops believing you have an answer — or you don’t. Students finish with something they carry onto the ward, not just a certificate.
Best for: Semester integration, clinical-skills modules.
Course
Full semester · elective or module
Your students are learning to diagnose and treat. This course teaches what a differential diagnosis cannot: how to sit with someone who is frightened, how to say the hard thing, how to be believed when you are the one who is sick. One lecture + one workshop session per week.
Best for: Medical schools, nursing programs, physiotherapy, allied health.
All formats available in English or German. I have worked with medical, nursing, and allied health faculties across Europe, including IMC Krems, Ludwig Boltzmann Institute, and Sheba Medical Center.
About Roi
Roi Shternin is an international keynote speaker, author of 6 books, and a patient living with a chronic, largely invisible illness (POTS/dysautonomia). He has delivered 200+ sessions across 27 countries — for medical schools, nursing faculties, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies.
Three-time TEDx speaker. His work sits at the intersection of storytelling, lived patient experience, and what it means to see the person behind the diagnosis in a system that moves too fast to look.
